Tao Te Ching: E-publication book design
The Tao Te Ching is an early philosophical book of Zen writings by Lao Tzu. The image used on the cover was painted by the last Emperor of the Northern Sung Dynasty. As a metaphor for the philosophical ‘opposites’ portrayed in the writing, the cranes are free to fly over the palace while the Emperor’s movement is quite restricted. The subtle waves represent the chi or energy.
