Firmin Didot: A thoroughly modern typeface

Firmin Didot came from a family of Renaissance printers in Paris. He pioneered the modern style of typeface as well as page layout which was free from grandiose ornamentation and quite spacious. This 2-page spread shows this new style as it was used in its original time period, but also utilizes a torn page element to portray its contemporary use, particularly in fashion magazines such as Vogue.
